Jan Suraaj meeting in Ara ends in chaos; state chief exits midway

Ara: A meeting of the Jan Suraaj in Bhojpur district ended abruptly on Wednesday after internal differences surfaced, forcing state president Manoj Bharti to leave midway amid commotion by party workers.The meeting, held in Ara to constitute a new district committee, was disrupted when a section of party workers expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the organisation at the district level. Some workers threatened to quit the party if their concerns were not addressed.Speaking after leaving the venue, Bharti said certain party workers were unhappy with the prolonged discussions aimed at strengthening the organisation. “It seems Bhojpur needs more time for detailed deliberations to chalk out the party’s future strategy. Therefore, the meeting to constitute a new district committee has been postponed for the time being,” he said. Bharti admitted that around 10 party workers raised objections to some party decisions, which they felt had adversely affected its electoral prospects.Reflecting on the party’s poor performance in the assembly elections, Bharti cited delayed announcement of candidates and weak organisational structure at the panchayat and booth levels as key reasons. “Although Prashant Kishor’s rallies drew massive crowds, we failed to convert that support into votes,” he said, adding that the party would focus on grassroots work over the next five years to regain public trust.Meanwhile, a disgruntled party worker said that lack of respect for grassroots-level suggestions was demoralising, but maintained that he would continue working for the party selflessly.
